Some phrases stay with you for a week. Others stay for a season. Then there are the rare ones that become part of who you are. For me, one of those phrases is this:
Endeavor the Perseverance.
Those words came from my dear friend, Charles Ferrel.
Years ago, we were talking briefly about one of the most iconic westerns of all time when Charles quoted that phrase. It wasn’t just the words themselves that caught his attention—it was the way the character delivered them. At the time, I doubt either one of us realized how deeply those words would take root in my life.
But they did.
During some of the hardest seasons I’ve ever experienced, I heard Charles saying those words in my mind over and over again:
Endeavor the Perseverance.
- Keep going.
- Hold on.
- Don’t quit.
There were times when I desperately needed something to hold onto. Those words became that anchor. They reminded me that even when the path ahead wasn’t clear, the journey wasn’t over. Even when I felt worn down, disappointed, frustrated, or behind, I wasn’t finished. I simply needed to keep moving.
What Those Words Mean to Me
Over the years, Endeavor the Perseverance has come to mean far more than simply refusing to quit. It reminds me not to stop just because the road becomes difficult, not to give up simply because the outcome is taking longer than I hoped, and not to mistake a hard season for a dead end.
It means staying in the fight. Staying focused. Trusting the process. Continuing to move forward even when I can’t yet see the entire picture.
That philosophy has become one of the foundations of Virtual Vibes Ventures because I believe many people don’t need more motivation—they need more clarity. A lot of people feel stuck when, in reality, they may simply be unclear about what comes next.
When life feels unclear, the temptation is to stop. We begin telling ourselves stories that probably aren’t true. We assume nothing is changing. We convince ourselves it’s too late. We wonder if our best opportunities are already behind us.
But what if the path is still there?
What if the reason you’re frustrated isn’t because you’re finished, but because you’re being prepared for something greater? What if life has been teaching you lessons all along, but you simply haven’t recognized them yet?
That possibility is why this phrase has stayed with me for so many years.
Perseverance Isn’t Pretending
Endeavor the Perseverance isn’t about pretending everything is easy. It isn’t fake positivity, and it certainly isn’t forcing a smile while ignoring reality.
- It’s about enduring.
- It’s about continuing.
- It’s about remembering that progress doesn’t always look dramatic in the moment.
- Sometimes progress looks like refusing to quit.
- Sometimes progress looks like surviving a season you never wanted.
- Sometimes progress looks like getting back up one more time.
- Sometimes progress looks like taking the next reasonable step even though the destination still isn’t completely visible.
Those moments matter because clarity often follows movement. Purpose frequently becomes clearer after perseverance, and direction usually comes after endurance.
Looking back, I can honestly say those words carried me through seasons when I wasn’t sure what came next. Today, they’ve become part of the language and culture of Virtual Vibes Ventures because they represent something I hope every builderSomeone who creates, improves, organizes, or explains something useful for another person. A builder adds original value… More eventually discovers for themselves.
Keep on Keeping On
If you’re reading this during a difficult season, don’t quit.
- Don’t stop.
- You may not be finished.
- You may simply be unclear.
Maybe the pressure has been heavier than you expected. Maybe the grind has felt endless. Maybe the path ahead seems uncertain. Maybe you’ve been wondering if there has to be a better way, or trying to understand why the bigger picture still feels out of focus.
- Keep going.
- Stay focused.
- Trust the process.
Endeavor the Perseverance.
Because when the picture finally begins to come into focus, the grind starts gaining purpose. What once felt like meaningless struggle often becomes the very foundation that prepared you for what comes next.
That may be where you begin to discover your own gold mine.

“Endeavor the Perseverance” is a phrase my dear friend Charles Ferrel once quoted during a conversation about one of the most iconic westerns of all time. He may not have known it then, but those words stayed with me for decades and helped carry me through some of the hardest seasons of my life. Charles and Karen were very influential in my life. In spite of the difference in skin color, they accepted me as one of their own. They were pillars of a community where role models were scarce. When they moved away, a part of me left with them. I will continue to sing their praises every opportunity I have.
